Forty nine years ago I joined Menzieshill CC in 1973 as a youth. Hector was one the first people I met at Menzieshill Community Centre when I walked in and he persuaded me to join.

Hector was my first ever hockey captain

A very knowledgable and talented hockey player and coach.

Always encouraging and coaching youth hockey.

Hector played regularly with Menzieshill and also played with the Royal Air Force GB team

Wherever, Hector was stationed with the RAF he would find a hockey club and a pitch.

The last time we met at the mens 50th anniversary celebration dinner in 2019 he told me he was involved with coaching with Wales Hockey.

His passing has come as a shock to all his hockey friends in Dundee and he will be sadly missed by all of us.

On behalf of everyone at Grove Menzieshill our condolences go to his brother Billy and all of Hector’s family.

Hockey has lost a great stalwart of the sport.
